Thailand Concludes

We left Ko PhanGan on a ferry/bus/overnight train to Bangkok. Mel & I were both quite pleased with the overnight train and got a decent sleep. We arrived in Bangkok around 10:30am and Mel’s flight home left early the next morning. We decided to spend our last night in the Royal Hotel, an authentic Thai hotel that was highly recommended by our neighbor in Newmarket. After checking in to the hotel, we walked around, did some shopping, and then consulted a travel agent for something to do on our last night. We decided to go on a nice romantic dinner cruise along the river. Unfortunately due to the combo of Mel & I running late and not worrying about it, we went through chaos trying to get to the other side of the city during rush hour, jumping from a Tuk Tuk to a cab to public transportation, and we ended up missing the boat. Of coarse we didn’t want this to ruin our last night together, so after unsuccessfully trying to get on some later dinner cruises, we decided to mosey on in to the Hilton Hotel. We ended up hanging out on the rooftop patio for a while with a nice view of the city. Afterwords we went out for a late dinner and then headed back to the hotel. The next morning was a very sad goodbye knowing that wouldn’t see each other for 3 ½ months.

The next day I went on a temple tour that I was able to get from the travel agent in return for the dinner cruise we missed. This was pretty interesting to see some of these ancient pieces of Thai history.
